About Al Rayyan
Al Rayyan is Qatar’s third-largest municipality; it has a city of the same name that serves as the main settlement. Al Rayyan City sits in the eastern part and forms a segment of Doha Metropolitan Area.
The largest population center outside Doha itself is found within Al Rayyan and its surrounding suburbs. Its location directly east of Doha proper adds more significance to this area. It spans all districts in the farthest eastern section of the municipality, while on its western edge is where Al Majd Highway cuts through.
Notably, this city was one of the venues that hosted the 2022 FIFA World Cup events.
Several districts are part of Al Rayyan City such as Abu Hamour, Al Aziziya, Al Gharrafa, Al Luqta, Al Waab, and Muaither.
Al Rayyan is split into Old Al Rayyan (Al Rayyan Al Qadeem) in the north, and New Al Rayyan (Al Rayyan Al Jadeed) in the south, though both areas are connected.
Education City, Qatar’s biggest learning hub filled with universities, is located in Al Rayyan. Other key attractions here are Aspire Zone, Al Wajbah Fort, and Villagio Mall.
