When you are decorating your home there are certain areas that you should splurge on, and items where you can actually save money on. We all have a budget, especially when it comes to home décor; continue reading to know when you should splurge and when you should save.
Splurge: Mattress:
There is nothing more important than finding that perfect mattress, and if that means spending a little extra to find it, then so be it. Imagine sleeping on a mediocre mattress every night, and waking up stiff and unrested?
Save: Seasonal items:
Whether they are for Christmas, Ramadan, Eid or Easter, seasonal items are just that – items and decorations that you use once a year. If stored correctly, these items should last you a few years, and you don’t even have to spend much on them to start with.
Splurge: Couch:
Because it’s the second most used piece of furniture at home, you should also consider investing in a comfortable and durable couch. When you do choose a splurge-worthy couch, remember to choose a neutral colored fabric and in good quality; if you do end up moving, you want the couch to come with you, don’t you?
Save: Bedding:
You will always be able to find sheets and bedding at a discounted price, so there is no need to spend too much money on this. Keep in mind, that washing the sheets regularly will also cause some wear and tear; another reason to not splurge on bedding.
Splurge: Vacuum:
Quality vacuums work better and longer, and will save you a lot of headaches! A quality vacuum will make it much easier to clean your house.
Save: Trendy Accessories:
Trends come and go very quickly, and while there is nothing wrong with adding a trendy accessory to your home, try not to spend too much on it, as most likely you will end up recycling it or putting it away in a few months.
Splurge: A tool set:
There is nothing more irritating than trying to fix something at home, or planning a DIY project and then realizing that your tools have broken down or cannot be used. This is why a quality tool set is important to have around the house.
Save: Art
While no one likes white plain walls, but there are a lot of things that you can add there that will not cost an arm and a leg. Unless you are investing in authentic paintings (which not most people will do), you can opt for wallpaper or a colored wall, or even paint the area yourself.
