Ah, summer in Qatar. A time when traffic is bearable, but the weather sometimes isn’t! And while many plan a mass exit for cooler climates during these months, there are a lot of folks who stick around in the summer. If you fall into the latter category, here are a few indoor activities you can enjoy.
Brunch:
Weekends are all about brunching! And while hotels tend to ‘play down’ their buffet offerings during this time, you’ll still get a great deal on food and beverage options around town. Two for ones, 50% off and even discounted prices are all on offer this time of year!
Movies:
An all-time favorite! Nothing like watching a blockbuster on the big screen in a not so crowded movie theatre. Reach for the popcorn and keep up with all the summer releases as you enjoy a day at the cinema.
Bowling and Games:
There are a number of bowling venues around Doha that you can visit to work on your bowling form. We love Megapolis at The Pearl, simply because we can spend hours there! With everything from billiards and ice hockey to arcade games and karaoke, it’s a gamers heaven!
Indoor Pools:
One of the best thing about the five-star hotels in town, is that they usually offer both an outdoor AND indoor pool. So, if you can’t stand the heat, then check out the array of indoor pools in the city that you can use throughout the summer months.
Indoor Sports:
We all tend to get a bit lazy as the temperatures go up, but there are a number of things you can do to keep you blood circulating. You can ice skate in one of the malls, or jump around in Bounce, or even get a few games in at Aspire.
Theme Parks:
There are a number of theme parks and amusements centers currently open, with Angry Birds World being the latest addition to open its doors. With more to come to Doha Festival City specifically, including an indoor snow park, we now have yet another reason to hit the malls!
Art:
Qatar is known for being a hub for art, and the summer time is a great way to visit some of the museum in the country. From The Museum of Islamic Art to QM Gallery in Katara, there is something for everyone!
Qatar Summer Festival:
The Qatar Tourism Authority’s annual event will continue until August 31st, and includes concerts, comedy shows, shopping promotions. In addition, Entertainment City brings you rides, arcades and more for fun fit for the whole family!
