About Qatar Metro

Qatar Metro, also known as The Doha Metro, was launched in 2019 by Qatar Rail. It is an underground transportation network spread across the city and provides safe and quick travel. Today, most people prefer using this public transport option.

With a fleet of 110 trains, the metro covers major areas. So, whether you want to travel for work or explore the city, this public transport offers low-cost travel.

Qatar Metro Lines

Qatar Rail started the metro project in two phases. The first phase is now operational and comprises three lines: red, green and gold. The second phase is under construction and is expected to be launched by 2027 and comprises a blue line.

The three operational lines cover an area of 76 km. The total expected area to be covered is 93 km. Qatar Metro operates through 37 bus stations. Msheireb and Al Bidda are interchange stations between the three operational lines. Let’s look at the metro lines and the bus stations:

The Red Line (Coastal Line)

The Red Line connects Lusail to Al Wakra and covers a distance of 40 km. It runs through 18 stations listed below:

Qatar Metro Fares

Qatar Metro fares can be paid using a travel card. Here is a breakdown of different travel cards and fares:

• Day Pass:
  • Standard (including family class): QR 6
  • Goldclub: QR 30
• Travel Card:

Qatar Metro Timings

Trains run every 3 to 5 minutes during peak hours. During normal hours, trains run every 12 minutes or less. Here are the Qatar metro timings to help you plan your journey accordingly:

• Saturday to Wednesday: 05:30 am to 11:59 pm
• Thursday: 05:30 am to 01:00 am
• Friday: 02:00 pm to 01:00 am
